Hi,
Going on the theory that there's no dumb questions, how do you read the track section times, their colours, and the lap times displayed at the top left of the screen in cockpit view?
While I'm displaying my ignorance, is there a way to make the bottom gear and speed displays bigger, and maybe even displayed closer to the line of sight eg. over the steering wheel?
Thanks, Jim
PS I did go through the otherwise very informative manual, but found almost no information on the cockpit digital views, and if there's any choice in how they're arranged.

I think you are describing Pribluda which is an addon program to GPL; that's why  GPL manual has no info on that.
If you want Speed and Gear display at the bottom bigger you can use Digital display modifier instead of Pribluda. That has the option to resize each value.
About the different color in the split time I think it's about  distinguish the best splits. I don't use it anymore so I don't remember well, sorry.

In the pribluda.ini you can edit the relative positioning of the info groups.
You can also modify the size of the text.

Read more about it here: http://www.amirkamal...uda_readme.html

here is my arrangement with the for me important info in the center.

Thanks for the info ginetto and cookie, I can't recall when I last imagined something, and then had the means to produce it dropped in my lap. Speaking of laps, I'm down a couple of seconds already in the Ferrari basic trainer. Just one thing, I didn't see any specific mention in the user guide about changing the position of the speed, gear, and rev info bar. I just blundered on to how to do it by changing the black bar ratio to see what happened. A change to 0.0.4541 put the info right at eye level, just above the tack and mirrors, and just below the top of the windscreen. Also, at least to me in the lots-of-time-to-look-around trainer, it doesn't interfere with track vision.
So a big thanks as well to Amir and Denis Fedorov for this utility, Jim.

That's why I can't use Pribluda. Look at how arcade that looks. It kills immersion for me.

Right.  If my display looked like that, I would be thinking all the while that I'm driving "Do I have enough quarters to complete this race?" :saythat:

Yeah Greg and Pete,
as long as I race vs AI's there is no need to be informed like this,
but in online racing championships those infos can help to avoid trouble...

I agree with you 100 percent, Axel.  Being a competitive online racing sim without that much "situational awareness" as in R/L it must really be necessary to have Pribluda.

But, if online racers would agree to "dumb down" the feedback display to what info was available to the R/L driver from the 1960s, then everyone would be on the same page.  Maybe have some races where Pribluda was not allowed.  It would probably have to be an honesty-race format.  :)

Greg the problem is, that you can't control the use of it.

In RL a driver has the "Popometer"  and a FOV of nearly 180°, so we need a little more input than the monitor and FFB can give us.

For me a much bigger problem is when some drivers use GPLShift without clutch...

Axel, I agree with you.  The only way to control use of it would be to set rules among friends.  Just competitive online racing and I can see that all means would be necessary to "even the field".  I wish that I had the internet connection and maybe the "drive" to give online driving a go.
