I hope Jim is still coming around here on occasion-just curious.  His web site hasn't had any new news on the track in more than a year.  If anyone else is privy and able to talk, I'm sure it would be sincerely appreciated.

The last I heard, Jim had suspended his project.  He had said that on his web site, but if that message is no longer up, then maybe that's a good sign.

If true, that really blows.  :(  <checking site> Nope, can't find an official statement from Jim (last update in Dec '08 indicated that he was still working on it), tho some people on his guest list seem to be under the impression that he's stopped.

Yes I do pop in here to see whats up.

I had a statement up on my site, but removed it because I couldnt stand looking at it. Started to depress me :)

There is another thread somewhere with posts from several people about planned fundamental changes to rasturisers that may well change significantly, how my work is displayed. There are also explanations that suggest there will be little or no effect on that work, which to me at least are unconvincing. However, I have no intention to go over old ground again in detail here. All that invites is the odd petulant personal attack which further demotivates me. People are free to develop GPL as they see fit. If that doesnt suit me or fit the work I've been doing, its dissapointing but I accept that.

I know some of you would like this track completed, however there are five years of my very intricate hard work tied up in this, with much of that involved in complex texture and vertex shading on thousands of objects and 26 separate horizons. This is not intended to be just a representation, more a precise replica; that why its taken so long to do. Its intended to display differently to most other GPL tracks. I dont want to have to undo that work, or continue with the year or so of solid work required to finish, involving similar techniques, unless I can be satisfied that the end result will be seen as it should be by all GPL users, without switching rasturisers back to otherwise redundant ones to make that work. Why would I work further on something that is effectively redundant? or compromise the quality I was seeking?

The project is not abandoned, but suspended and I am enjoying doing a lot of other things at the moment.

Sorry if this dissapoints, but you have had a few fun tracks from me and many others from great track makers.

I dont intend to re-enter discussion of this subject.

Let me see...is Monet redundant, or Picasso or Warhol or the Wythes or O'Keefe?

More like timeless masters.

Edit: Here is another bit more recent discussion about same, beginning with post #44, drifts, then picks up again around post #73:"End of an Era"

If I translate this I understand that means "not needed anymore" ??
is this because you think GPL will be changing to much, or are you waiting that GPL changes?

Keep on loving the thinks you do Jim, and thanks for all your efforts!!

Greetings Pedro.

eventually you think you might be cured. but it's only temporary. i've come back to it time and again, it just is the best. i have no other "game" this old that i ever came back to. repeatedly. and even keep working on.
so jim, if you need motivation to come back, ... just holler :)

Yep! GPL is like herpes but in a good way ;)

Not long ago I had some laps around fantastic Dundrod for no reason. As usual the track became too narrow for the big grin that grew into my face around the first lap and I crashed :D

Thank you Mr. Pearson for all the enjoyment you brought to us.

Hi everyone tis Moody here, and it is a while since I posted anywhere about GPL. Much sadness about RSC etc.. but the community carries on yeah!!  And, of course, in every community there are those who's contribution to the welfare and happiness of the rest within the community goes beyond, shall we say. 'THE CALL'... The editors who have developed the tracks for us eg Targa etc, improved the physics, the graphics, produced amazing mods like 1965, 69, the F2s and the 67 Sports Cars and many other projects we all enjoy and love are the contributors of whom I speak. Jim Pearson is of course one of these. The standard of his work is nothing short of masterpiece status, he is an artist in every sense of the word.I cannot even begin to have any perception of how important the Isle of Man project must be to this hero of GPL.
I just want to say to Jim a heartfelt thanks to the hours and hours of pleasure the results of his hard work gives me and will continue to give me as I still love GPL very much. Good luck Jim, and I hope one day to be driving round the TT course because GPL will always be on my hard drive.
  Thanks mate!!
