Hi Everybody-Have been reading the Motorsport articles off of John Woods' post of
Into The Red race reports for 1967 F1 season.They are very interesting to read.I
came across in the German GP report of Dennis Jenkinson talking about the "pits
circuit"which sounds like the Nurburg loop track in GPL.He talks about how the
drivers could make a loop without having to drive the whole circuit to start a
timed lap.This would be great if it could somehow be incorparated into the GPL
version someday.I believe there is an add on to start a lap before the
start/finish line but is there enough room to get up to speed?Thanks. :idunno:

Not worth it in my opinion, I normally warm the engine up by aremberg, and the tyres up by Kallenhard, the rest of the lap is just settling down. I don't know if track makers know a way of editing trk files, and could incorparate it, but it would leave the rank vulnerable to abuse. The Zeilschilife does exist on its own I think. If you just don't want to wait a lap before having a go at a timed lap, try the Ringtrainer.

Yes it seems that the real drivers would need a few laps of this short circuit to get the car ready for a flying lap.
I wonder what exactly was the procedure-3 laps of the warm up and then off on the Nordschleife for a timed lap?

I think they did just one lap for achieving top speed at the S/F-line (even when it was a bit lower in the pre-67 layout of the Ring without the Hohenrain-chicane, but even better than doing a complete lap).On a more than 14 miles track the difference is not so big. :dont_mention:
But I think it´s simply impossible to get the AI driving on two different routes (nearly the same situation as in Brooklands, I don´t think that it is possible to build the  long track in GPL with the exact S/F/ and pit situation).

Almost would call for a scenario of the Monza 10K,somehow.Anyway it probably is better to run a full warm up lap
to get prepared mentally as well as the car ready. :duh:

Or get Lee Bowden's GPL Track Start Manager at http://jrpearson.hom...PLCIRCUITS.html which will let you start anywhere that you like around any track - although in Training Mode only

I presume that you have Pribluda ?  If so, all you have to do (training) is to run back up the track in the reverse direction and turn around and come back over the start line.  It does not warm up the tyres, but at least you get a flying lap.

Or you could simply replace the pit part of the track ini with this:

[ pit_lane_0 ]

lane_on_right = 1
lane_has_wall = 0
lane_bounds_dlong = 22740.4 253.1
lane_bounds_dlat = -11.7 -2.8
pit_board = 11.0 1200.0 -100.0 100.0
LOS end (last 2 not used)
stall_0 = 18230 -6
stall_1 = 18222.75 -6
stall_2 = 18215.5 -6
stall_3 = 18208.25 -6
stall_4 = 18201 -6
stall_5 = 18193.75 -6
stall_6 = 18186.5 -6
stall_7 = 18179.25 -6
stall_8 = 18172 -6
stall_9 = 18164.75 -6
stall_10 = 18157.5 -6
stall_11 = 18150.25 -6
stall_12 = 18143 -6
stall_13 = 18135.75 -6
stall_14 = 18128.5 -6
stall_15 = 18121.25 -6
stall_16 = 18114 -6
stall_17 = 18106.75 -6
stall_18 = 18099.5 -6
stall_19 = 18092.25 -6

That simply moves the pits to a few turns before the start of the long straight. Our league always uses it, the cars start on the grass and you will get a yellow flag if there is a car in the pits but it does the job.
