Hi Guys!

After my recent simrace experience with Automobilista, I discovered again WHY this sim for me is still the best racing "game" out there (after GP Legends, of course).

So I made this short video to to share my thoughts about it with you: https://www.youtube....h?v=TlWyFCzW-OY

Thank you!

Hi Ralonso

Do you have to use Steam to play this game.

As my OS on my desktop is still XP and I believe that Steam have stopped support for older OS.

Hi Twinpotter,

yes, since the Reiza Studios Guys have changed the title's name from "Stock Car Extreme" to Automobilista, a Steam connection  is strictly recquired to play the game.

In April 2019 it was still possible to run Steam on Windows XP (and Vista) with this hack.
But this might not work anymore today as said at the end of the video:

Thanks Stefan for the links.

Yes it's worked πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘
Bit more experimenting to do.

Ralonso (considering my pc) what's Stock Car Extreme like, compared as well to Auto Mob

Grand Prix 4 from Jeoff Crammond is still a great F1 sim. Should work with your PC.

Another similar sim to Automobilista is rfactor (in fact, Automobilista is based on the same engine as a base).

Thanks Ralonso & Stefan πŸ‘

I've got all the Gp series by grammond on original disc, plus Rfactor too, so I'm fine there.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Image Space Incorporated (ISI) are responsible for the link of games like F1 Challenge (EA) moving to Rfactor, Gtl, GtR, Race 07 and working with Rieza on Stock Car and AutoMobilista. With the gMotor game engine. Correct me if I'm wrong πŸ€”

I've done some more experimenting with Steam, and managed to find my old log in info. I have some games within my Library, like F1 2010,12,13,14,15, Race WTCC, Race 07, Race Evolution, Gtr, Gtl and more. I just have to reinstall them because I'm using this new machine. As my previous Steam set up was on one of my other laptop's and the games where already installed there.

Thanks again everybody for your help πŸ˜πŸ‘ Much appreciated.

"...a Steam connection  is strictly recquired to play the game"

Which is why Steam has never gotten a penny from me, and never will.

I kind of and tend to agree with you jgf.

A company, for one reason or the other, monopolising gamers for what they presume is at the sake and threat of piracy, but as we know is also extortation of gamers. When all honest gamers would not think of doing the latter.

I liked it best, when back in the day you bought a disc(felt real, with real feel) with your money, installed it and away you went. You could install and uninstall it whenever you liked and weren't held to an activation code, that could time out or not be used multiple times.

But Steam as cornered the market and sometimes you just have to bear it and go with it. I'm just annoyed that steam don't do a legacy mode for older OS users like what Origin do. This doesn't help one bit and isolates all old OS users. Especially when they've forked out money for games in the past and are now in their inaccessible library, resulting in them not been able to play them anymore. I think that's an absolutely disgusting service, by someone as big as Steam. I know it's a Microsoft update thing, due to what they state is a security loop hole in older OS. But come on man that's unfair for gamers that have purchased in the past.

Well, my issue is less with Steam than with those game developers who decide to release a game solely via Steam.  Anything I want to buy, from a hamburger to a new car, I have an option of where to buy it;  these developers are denying me that option by saying, "if you want our game you must buy it from Steam" ...to which I respond, "if you want my money you will give me an option".

When I buy a game the vendor gets my money and I get his game.  End of relationship, as long as the game functions as advertised.  Steam's totalitarian demand that I install unnecessary and unwanted software on my computer just because i purchase a game from them is an absolute dealbreaker.  And there is no acceptable reason, beyond multiplayer, that a  game needs an online connection.  EA/Origin and Ubi are also guilty of this atrocity, I do not purchase their games either.

In fact, for several years now most of my gaming dollar has gone to used games - ones I overlooked in the past or for which lost my disks.
