See here for how patches are used with GPL. For the No Letter Box Patches, I recommend you use Method 3 and place the patches in the GEM+/Options directory. That way, the patches will be available for all mods. Pay particular attention to the last sentence which says to delete the mod .exe prior to applying the patch.
V3 is probably the most popular patch. It removes the letterbox in the driver's view, but keeps the lower letterbox in the replay view.

Remember the game called Myst?
GPL is sort of like that.
Even long-time users get lost, confused, and amazed when they figure something out.
Lee's patches are well-built and very well-proven.
Once you get it working you will no longer be concerned with it.
Be patient and don't discourage yourself.
GEM+ builds and maintains the EXE files for the mods.
It hosts and applies the .xml patches.
It keeps things nice and tidy only when files are where it thinks they should be.
(Sometimes it stumbles, but not often or a lot).
Good Morning!

Start GEM+ and confirm all settings, (yes I know, once again), then click green button to open GPL.
GEM+ will then re-build the gplc67.exe file and run it.
Re-building the exe is no big deal.
Does it then only open or work in multi-player mode?
When Grand Prix Legends is running, can you change to another mode?
It will open in the mode it was in when ran last.

How did you install Grand Prix Legends?
From a disc or demo?
Use the 1.08 Installer?
What is working?

Did you use the 1.08 Installer?
Are you running GPL on the C partition?
Have you had it running, been on track?

When you installed Grand Prix Legends, how did you do that?
The 1.08 Installer is used when installing using a Papyrus/Sierra OEM disc.
Otherwise, many users install one of the Demo versions.
Sometimes users run Grand Prix Legends on a flash drive or some other storage device or an HD partition besides the C drive.
Did you install one of the Demo versions?

If you installed just using the disk, it will not work.

Please check this guide and follow it by the letter

Don't hesitate to come back and ask questions. Sometimes it hard to understand in the back-and-forth so we have to ask clarifying questions to get it right.
