Another great loss to motorsport history :( I feel honoured that I got to meet him and Jack Brabham. I believe John was the oldest surviving world champion, and now that title goes to Jackie Stewart.

Quote

Formula 1 and motorcycle racing legend John Surtees has died at the age of 83 from illness, his family has announced.

The 1964 Formula 1 world champion, who also managed the unique feat of winning multiple titles on two wheels as well, "passed away peacefully" in a London hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for a respiratory condition since being admitted in February.

Noooo :(

Fantastic on 2 and 4 wheels, still considered to be one of the very best for understanding a car's handling and setting up and improving racing cars.

Watched him get a huge tank slapper on riding a massive Vincent Black Shadow racing bike going through Paddock Hill bend.... he just about got it under control by Druids. Most riders would have ended up in the gravel, and that was in the 80s so he was well into his fifties. Afterwards he just gave one of his grins, and shrugged :)

A legend, so few left now from the 60s :(

RIP John

We had seen many triumphant races with the bikes at Hockenheim, so we drove to the Solitude to see John in a F1 for the first time...

After Jack Brabham, another all time greatests hero with intense, superhuman achievements has left.

They shared two records that may never been equalled : World champion on his own car, and world champion both on two and fourth wheels

GPL original carset  is widowed again

Shocked and saddened :idunno:
