Nice shots chaps.

Sharknose... Now *that* is a car befitting GPL. So strange not anybody has made a good mod for it anywhere in any sim, so far! (I'm almost inclined to say 'not even GPL' since that's its most natural habitat!)

I know (probably noticed that shot a few years before you Tommie :) ) , it's just a traged... well, a bit sad that no-one was willing to follow up on it eh.
But since it's never been done in a sim *yet*, there's still a chance for GPL as well in this regard. If there ever was any sim where this car would fit and which would get fans drooling...!

ah chaps, i need a reference pic of the '69 ferrari mirror. preferably shot from either inside the car or from behind the car so that the mirror can be seen.
so far i've found several versions, a chrome one resting on three spokes seems to be the most common one... pics appreciated!

thank you flop!

after just spending an hour or thereabouts on yet another fruitless attempt at recreating that bloody mirror rim, i think i'll model it in 3d and render it. that should get me a nice chrome effect and possibly some useable reflections - curved surface and all. after all rendering plus loads of touch up worked reasonably well for the shifter grate and the fire extinguisher switch...

I'm fairly certain that these are Vitaloni Mach 1 "Sebring" mirrors. If you search that, you should find some useable images..there seem to have been quite a few manufacturing variations with this mirror. Hope this helps.

Forgot to add, Sky, if its of any help to you, here's a 512 JPEG of my 66 McLaren mirror. You're more than welcome to use this as a starting point, if it would be of any help.

Regards,

Del.

thanks guys, all the pics saved. and it's always good to have reference. the more the merrier :)

delgs, thanks for the '66 macca mirror, the shape is essentially the same. it's just that the ferrari seems different in that it had a metal outer casing, very thin fram and inside the mirror. or alternatively it had a black housing, probably some plastic or painted metal and similar entry. i will have to think how to properly do that. i was aiming for a full fledged rounded edge chrome finish like your macca has, and all versions of the original mod ferrari seem to have. i'm just not sure that's what it was :). of the 3 versions i did so far, i don't like one. so maybe fourth time lucky?
according to my todo list that leaves a bit of touchup to the .3do part for the windscreen, with a slight rework of the bolts, washers and nuts used there, redoing the tyres, try and get that odd specular highlight of the gearknob plus adjusting the outside cockpit edge where it meets the windscreen left to do. yay. finally

just released this baby... so yay...
linkage

thanks remco for the cloth texture!! and everyone for helping with the research (google in particular :P). delgs, in the end i didn't render the mirror but painted it by hand - took a few times, but i think it's sort of quite close to one of the versions of the car :)
onto the next ferrari, finishing off the 712m dash - three in a row, woohooo. then finishing off some M8 maccas (M8C, M8D, M8F)... and all the while working on spa. life is good (and thank god it's winter)
