Thanks Yogi for picture! Now I see it is definitely Brünnchen. It seems like left turn had some banking and inside part was lower than flat spot on exit. It also explains why BRM on first picture tilt to the left (from driver's point of view).

Hi friends,

the long wait is over.
A new :new2: small Update for the ring is coming soon.

Do you love to ride on the ring?
But have you ever asked during a race,
how far you still have to drive up to start/finish.

Now here is the solution. :yeah:
Original kilometer signs.
Large Esso signs for each whole kilometer and small signs for each 100m.

A small team work of Gordon (GORDON_S) and me,
with more than 200 new 3DOs and more than 200 new MIPs.

Screenies by Gordon

Hello.

In my memory the kilometer Large Esso signs were solid and in some recent tests on a new install they are too.

But the problem is with the small signs for each 100m.

In my memory they were solid too but in my test they are not.

What is the truth ?

Small signs, solid or not ?

:thanks:

Hi R4E

the 100m signs have no collision volume (they are not solid), because they have a small wooden Pole and i thought they can make no damage to the cars. :)

Good thinking. Best to be carefull using full collision objects for repeating track objects like pylons, track signs coss ai get into trouble if they hit it. If they are not in the driving line(that is including run off area's) you can use them as solid object but otherwise best not.

What .... In this communities opinion....  Is the best update or combination of updates to create the best possible Nurburgring? I am currently using a stock nurb from the cd with klas update basis
with the new Dunky Update on top of it .. but there is much clipping and strange visual effects ... Once I arrive at this solution I can begin adding these updates for my year specific installs. I have many many files and updates on backup cd's collected over the years so some files no longer available may be on one of them ....

( Since originally posting this, I have installed separate versions of Klas .. Dunky ... Kellaaa ... and Gammaworxs Nurburgrings over a fresh pappy track for each. Each has its own qualities and flavor. My main interest is firstly the best "functioning" track in terms of pop ups and clipping ... and secondly, historical accuracy. I was fortunate enough to discover this incredible site ... ...  that really helps one understand the evolution of Nurburgring addons and the effect they provide.... My quest continues)

:thanks: for mentionning this work that I've made two years ago.

If it can help someone who wants to read it in English I put it here :  Attached File  NURBURGRING - ENGLISH - 28.08-06.10.2014.pdf   3.95MB   41 downloads

Note : it's google translated so there is some strange mistakes.

Like you I don't know where you can find this "ghostly" drawfix-addon mentionned in the readme.

Perhaps someone will give us the answer soon.

Thanks Remy.... your one of my original heros when I ran GPL back in the early days..glad your still around. Since I settled on Kellas Beta nurb then I had to use the 3dos in the kit supplied in the track signs kit per the read me
( 1. Backup your entire nurburg-folder by copying it to a save place. This allows you to revert in case of dislike.

2. Unzip and copy "all_signs.7z" to the nurburg-folder of your GPL installation directory. Allow overwriting of existing files.

3. If necessary, unzip "nurbring_3dos.7z" and copy the specific 3do-collection for your nurburg-version (All-in-one-Installer/PS  or XK_beta_2008  or  wetnurb) to your nurburg-folder. Allow for overwriting.)

I assume the draw fix 3do you supplied is for more standard versions of Nurb such as Klass or Dunkys. What specifically is it designed to correct?

Yes Rookie. . Your site was a god send as I fight my way back into the GPL groove and play 10 years of catch up ... Can't imagine why your site isnt on the GPL essential links site... Or is it ? I found it in a google search. Thanks for your work in any case...

Now my quest begins for historic weather/skies that fit well with the Kella Beta update ... My look ups reveal the following regarding weather conditions on race day ...

1965 .. overcast and wet
1966 ...overcast and damp
1967... sunny and dry
1968... hazy and damp/wet
1969 ...sunny and dry
1967 1000 km nürburgring ...dry and hot

I looked at some of Al Healys ground breaking skies but find them too dramatic for actual historic race conditions.

So far I have tried gliebzeits_65_Nurb_Cloudy_Sky for the 1965 event ... there are minor color saturation and other issues when used with the Kella update but overall really doesn't look bad at all and provides that gloomy feeling I am seeking...

Any suggestions here for each event would be greatly appreciated..

Gammaworx had a bunch of different options for one of his nurburgrings.
They should be in subfolders once you install his track (I don't remember if was an update or an actual track with its own installer).
Try 'em out and see if you find anything that suits your needs. :)
