I was one of the drivers that got discoe'd that Frenchy mentions in the above post

Here's what happened:

Lap 10 of 19
about 100m past Boschkurve
no changes to frame rate during race or before disco - constant 36fps
computer just froze ..all I could do is Cntl-Alt-delete and close GPL in the task manager.

Thanks Ginetto for working on a fix for Zeltweg  :) It would be a shame to have to can this great track!

Thx Ginetto!

Would be nice if the homepage could get updated with this fix:

Thank You guys :)
If you're so kind to host a race again in short time, I'll then place the update in a proper place ;)

Tonight we had a league race at Salzburgring 74 using the 66 mod, all drivers in Brabham 2.5L. After a few practice sessions over the last week or so with no problems and indeed qualifying for 40 mins, 11 cars, we started the race and on lap 2 about 5 of us had screen freeze, in my case I had to manualy switch off the computer and reboot just to exit. While chatting with the other drivers in Igor, one by one the rest of them were booted from the race (unsure if all were screen freezes but for sure the first 5 of us had the same problem). Before half distance, all were gone. We ran a race at Monza on the server to test the server and had no drama's, although there were only 6 of us in the Monza server. Has this track had problems in the past?

Our league has a list of tracks to be avoided.

I will add a few others from the GPFun blacklist. We run 90 minutes races with full grid, so I guess we have more chances to get into bad situations :)

Not to be used in official races (several CTDs over the years, every time we used them):
Salzburgring 74
Virginia (V.I.R)
Sandown

Risky and thus avoided (several CTDs over the years, yet not systematically):
Riverside

Glitches:
- Oulton 60's version (cars "jump to the side" for a couple of frames on the back straight; manageable)
- Laguna 67 (cars jump backward on the start/finish line; the issue was known and I don't know if it was fixed).
- Keimola (this is probably fine, just a bad event with several CTDs)
- Buenos Aires, BA15  (several CTD's, but all in all manageable and we use it)
- Road Atlanta (you can be thrown into the air when exiting the pits, manageable)

Bye,
Luca

Just saw this post Craig.

Shame I didn't see it before. Funny though, how it ran all right in practice and qually, also ran fine all week and for 2 races in 67F2's. (They've used it there on a number of occasions.)

I've raced a few league races here, (not more than 8 drivers, though) and I can't remember any problems.

I'm happy to report that your hard work seem to have paid off, Ginetto!

We just had two 65mod online events at Zeltweg and had NO PROBLEMS AT ALL".
There were 8 drivers each time (Wednesday and Friday) and everyone had this patch including the server.
We're planning to use it again.

Thanks for your great work Ginetto.  You gave us back a great track to race on. :)

I wouldn't want Ginettos fix for the original Zeltweg70 to get lost in the excitement of Zeltweg71 ... the Zeltweg update is beautiful, thanks Jackseller and team

but Zeltweg71 is still a heavy graphics load for some systems ... I have a mid strength system, and I get very low frame rates in some sections of Zeltweg71 ... when I use Ginettos fix with the original track, I get good frame rates, even against the AI and no stuttering, CTD or screen freeze ... I haven't tried it yet online with my league, but below is a testament from another group that indicates the original problems may be fixed ... GINFix was posted back in October, but I only recently found the thread ... I will test Ginettos fix online and report any problems, but all indications are positive ... Thank You Ginetto

The main reason to switching to a new folder name is that it ensures that everyone is running from the same basic starting point and so avoids any online conflicts or mistakes with non-updated versions.

To overcome the graphics loading problems a better bet is for everyone to still use the new zelt71 version, but for a reduced zelt71.3do to be produced. If the texture and object file names have not been changed, this could be as simple as renaming the previous zelt70 fixed 3do to be called zelt71.3do. (Ginetto or Jack should be able to confirm this). Alternatively, they might make a new light version available if they were asked nicely with less of the new added objects and/or a reduced draw distance.

In general it is always best with significant updates to release them with a new name as it avoids conflicts with old versions and the potential for problems if not everyone updates their versions. (This is also the main reason I am never keen on the release of public betas).

Interesting thread.  Though it seems most of these track problems (only?) affect online racing.  Could we differentiate a list of tracks with offline problems?

(I recall an early version of Avus which, if you crossed the S/F line at full speed, would launch you into the air like a missile, minus one or both front wheels and trailing smoke and flames.)
