This is good news!  Nice to have one of our oldest and best track builders, making a new track, and it looks almost finished. :woot: Amazing to see the quality of artwork used, to paint a moving picture, from all our remaining track artists.  Onwards!

Wow cool another circuit that I did not know of :D It is not even in theracingline.net database.

http://formula-histo...riapolis-r-o-u/
(see the videos also)

http://masmotorsport...piriapolis.html

https://www.youtube....h?v=EfOLc5_Nri4

And if people want to see where it is, the coordinates are: 34°52'55.35" S  55°16'08.38" W

It looks really wide from your video / screens compared to the aerial shots / pictures. But then this could just be a trick of the eye. Even with most of the tarmac ripped up (there are still some sections you can see), there simply doesn't look room for a wide track.

But then maybe it is a trick of the eye - how wide is yours roughly?

Also, i cannot see the really steep grass verges to the sides of the track in real life.

Here are some videos of the circuit from 1955:
https://www.youtube....h?v=tuUsulmkJeE
(Also notice the giant tyres on the inside and outside of corners - way bigger than anything i've seen at mexico park or rouen haha).

And they were originally haybales for the 1952 event:
https://www.youtube....h?v=IEGcDjmgGek

Anyway it looks good and interesting! Nice to learn something new
:)

Thanks!

Punta Fria

(only used in 1952 for a Formula Libre race)
Piriápolis, Punta Fría (1952)

(Fangio tribute site - has wrong track map, but has other good info)
http://www.jmfangio....2piriapolis.htm

In Uruguay, two international Formula Libre competitions are organized to mark the inauguration of the Piriapolis circuit. The same pilots participating in the Brazilian and Argentine competitions participate in it. Some new arrivals from Europe were also added, such as Maurice Trintignant and Louis Rosier.

In the classification, Fangio gets the pole, followed by Chico Landi to 2 ". Fangio already in race triumphed from end to end. Only in the first part he suffered the harassment of the Brazilian Landi, but in the second half, Fangio managed to distance himself until reaching a difference of 45 ".
