So, 20 Years Later (Gpl)
Posted Jun 25 2019 - 03:10 PM
Much to my surprise, after about 15 minutes, I was only half a second off my old pace at Monza, and using the default setup to boot. I remember it took me forever in 1999 to just not crash all the time.
I spent much of the last 20 years racing a 500hp, 2100lb race car in real life, so perhaps that helped. I remember quitting GPL because I thought it was making my real world race driving too cautious!
Nice to see it's still being played. I never found another sim I liked.

How is your gplrank name?
I hope you could find time to race gpl again. There are still several online leagues and pick up races. Most of the info about them is in a single site, the gpl-weekly.

It looks like I managed to log on to GPLRank at some point before I lost everything and created a new account as "Ophitoxaemia"
I raced in the COHBRA league (COventry/Honda/BRAbham) in the Honda and otherwise mostly the Eagle.

Thanks for touching base with us.
Hope to see you again soon.
Maybe you will have some time for on-line practice or open event racing?
Last night, for instance, happened to get on IGOR for some practice on Tripoli and unexpectedly found myself qualifying for a 16-lap ADC race at Rouen, got up to 3rd then began a several lap saga of crashing while climbing back from last place and finished 6th, (think it was 6th anyway, forgot to save the replay).
Lots of fun...apologies to those who found me bouncing off the dirt past T1.
Go here if you want to do some catching up:http://www.gpllinks.org
Practice and racing anytime on the Willow server
