This is a question I am almost ashamed to ask after almost 20 years of using GEM:
How can I increase the speed of the ai, so that the races are more competitive? What I'm looking for is to simulate the speed of real drivers in my league (oAo) and in my division, where with a Ferrari I can aspire to a podium, but hardly to win a race.
Thank you.

oAo races the Papy 67 F1 cars. You can't change the AI speed in GEM for those cars. That only works for the mods. You'll have to go into the file in the GPL folder and edit it.

go  in the driver.ini and raise the number of the "hype" , for each driver ,do it gradually by one/tenth at the time ,you can see the result rapidly by doing a  quali in fast forward ,  if you want you can  change the hierarchy by raising the hype of some driver more then other

Ok, go into the GPL folder. Find the gpla67 file and open it. Scroll down to the [magic] section. scroll down to npt_override = 1.0

This controls the speed of all the AI. The larger you make that 1.0 number the slower the AI. If you make it less it makes the AI faster. Don't make large jumps.

1.02 = slower
0.98 = faster

I always knew this Lee. I just choose to leave the AI on 1.0

It's kind of a good balance. The AI are slow at some track and fast at others. In a full championship it kind of equals out. At least that's how my old brain sees it. :)

It worked perfectly, Pete! With the coefficient at 0.989 the pilots look very much like my league.
Thank you.

Good deal. I remember racing in that league. It has some fast drivers.
