Hi lads,
When the CanAm '71 historical addon was released it was said that a new version of those tracks was in progress. To this day, nothing happened. News?

I think I read somewhere that Ginetto was working on one of them, dunno what stage it's at though. I'm guessing he's busy getting other projects that are closer to completion out of the door first? He seems really busy, plus he's getting pestered by people like me asking dumb trackbuilding questions
It'd be great to have these tracks one day, they're great fun to drive.

Yes, ginetto is working on Road America and silence was working on Mid-Ohio, but has gone missing.
Smogbike has a workable Mid-Ohio.... just not exactly real-to-life.
Ginetto's Road America is beautifully done and extremely driveable.... it may need fine tuning of elevations/cambers... and of course more track side objects.

This is great news about Ginetto's Road America. I figured this was lost when he lost all of his files a while back. It's great to hear that this project still lives!

I posted a new topic in "Motorspot Chat" section with a link to a video from the inaugural race at Road America in September of 1955. Video is good quality. I don't know if it can help the track editors for GPL Road America, or if they have already seen it, but maybe it's worth a look.

I have something to add. I had a brief exchange with Ginetto about Road America earlier this year (January/February 2016). He does, in fact, have a very nice version that is way better that the existing ICR2 version that is out there. I was supposed to help him with trackside objects and improving the general "feel" of the track...but life distracted me and then summer came to Wisconsin and the months went by. I'm very much interested in working with him again on maybe finally pulling it all together. A "real" vintage version of Road America is a must for GPL - one of the greatest road circuits not only in the US...but also in the world. I think it is close to a reality. The layout is good...really just down to adding the "eye candy" to bring the track to life (at least as far as I can tell).
